We already love Siri for taking our voice commands but she has predecessor from 1968 that actually does the same thing, maybe even better. Meet the HAL 9000 robot from the classic "2001: A Space Odyssey."
For fans of the movie, the phrase "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" will forever portray the idea of robot evilness. Like with HAL, you can converse with Apple's Siri program if you have an iPhone. Hopefully Apple's device won't be half as evil.
It will take some time before robots can communicate effectively with humans. Siri is still miles away from its future potential.
