The Tower of Babel, an ancient skyscraper with mythic structure, is a biblical structure that is said to have reached the skies. Some builders have tried to built it so that it will tower all over the world's tallest skyscrapers.

Japanese construction company Shimizu Construction have considered building Shimizu Dream, a hotel for tourists seeking greater heights -- greater than ever before or ever will be. In 1989, it has developed a 64-room space hotel (with 40 staff accommodations) that is expected to be in operation in another 20-30 years! It is envisioned that at 279 miles (450 kilometers), the hotel will rise from the Earth's surface and higher than Mount Everest.

Guests will have fantastic views in their 7x4 meter rooms that will rotate at 3 rpm so that it produces enough centrifugal force to produce an artificial gravity of 0.7 g. All rooms are arranged in a 140-meter diameter ring.

The Pon de Station is another feature for space tourists looking for a more colorful destination. Resembling like a stack of donuts, this 24-room low-earth-orbit space hotel appears to be a variation of the proposed "Space Love" hotel they envisioned.

The Shimizu Dream has a 240m-long elevator shaft and four functional elements. Guests can see the Earth from above and observe the beautiful floating clouds, the changing time. It has an efficient energy supply with its expandable solar panel and battery. The space hotel platform serves as the arrival and departure station for space transportation vehicles.

It has a large truncated octahedron complex that is composed of several modules such as a lobby, restaurants, and an amusement hall. Guest can enjoy sports, games and even a good meal under microgravity.
