This movie is set in the year 2169, where people are genetically engineered with time clocks in their forearms and they stop ageing at 25. However, at this age, their clocks start counting down to one year and when it gets to zero, it "times out" and people die.
Time becomes the universal currency and is used to pay for everything. The world is divided into time zones and the film focused on two: The Dayton, where most people live within 24 hours or less in their clocks and New Greenwhich, the richest time zone where people can literally live for centuries.
Time can be shared by capsules or by physical contact and the plot thickens when a Dayton citizen receives over 100 years in his timeclock from a wealthy 150 year-old-man who wished to die. Thinking he stole and murdered this fellow, TimeKeepers ran after him that pushed him to be The Robinhood of the Future: he breaks into timebanks and give time to people. Shaking the dominance of the richest families in the world, he became the most wanted criminal in the country.
The world would be twisted place to live in if time becomes a currency...a dystopian future is not for me...
