Have you ever thought about what the future would look like 30 years from now? Well it is impossible to make a forecast of the things to come. Perhaps we may see flying cars.
Back to the Future is one of the most popular films in the genre of futurology and time-travel that tried to answer what the future looks like. Unfortunately, we are already in the "future" that Marty McFly traveled and yet we don't have flying cars and hoverboards yet. Maybe, we still have time to have these technological wonders until October 21, 2015.
Advancement in technology were mentioned in the film and it is not surprising that people in their time (1985) viewed the future as the place to be. Here are what they expected 2015 will have:
A Delorean Flying Time Machine |
Who doesn't love a vertical-takeoff Delorean sports car that also happens to be a time machine?
Future fashion looks oddly 1985? |
Future kids would probably wear weird looking body suits and leotards. Not in 2015. Virtual gaming devices is already here, they got that right.
Mattel is producing hoverboards? I thought they're still on Barbie dolls. |
This hoverboard will be a hit if it exists for real but until I get a hold on one of this, this is still a fantasy toy.
Self-lacing shoes by Nike |
I wonder when Nike will unveil their self-lacing shoes. It would be cool to have these amazing kicks.
Dynamic changing newspaper headline |
And oh, Lady Diana never became Queen of England. Swiss terrorism in 2015?
Automated gas stations manned by robots |
No need to get out from your car to fill up the gas let the robots to the dirty work for you. Maybe you should have that fusion powered Delorean and fill it with rubbish as fuel.
Self-drying jacket |
No more rainy days and Mondays with a self-drying and self-fitting jacket.
3-D holographic billboard |
Jaws 19? Seriously? People in 2015 going gaga with shark films, I don't think so!
Political dynasty? |
Black guy in power? Three generations of Goldie Wilson were mayors of Hill Valley. Will it be the time when whites become a minority in the United States?
New Pepsi logo in 2015? |
Will popular brands completely overhaul their branding by showcasing new logos and design?
People are more fitness-conscious in 2015 |
On average, Americans remain as the most overweight people on Earth. But there is an increasing emphasis on health food and fitness regimen.
Will fax machines make a comeback? |
Unfortunately, most people email messages than sending it on fax machines. There is a growing trend in using instant messaging.
Mobile trash cans |
Littering may become a serious crime in the future. Will we see more mobile litter bots getting all the rubbish on the streets?
Thumbprint lock on doors |
What they failed to recognize is that you still need knobs to open doors.
Robot dog walker |
Tired of walking your dogs? Let robots do it for you.
Black & Decker Hydrators |
Advances in food technology will allow us to miniaturize food products and cook it with hydrators that ultimately transform it to full-size food that we know.
Indoor gardens |
Hydrophonics technology is already a reality so it is now possible to have your own indoor garden where you can plant herbs to grapes.
Display headsets |
There is Google Glass and Oculus Rift, I think these technologies will improve tremendously as the demand grows.
Watching different TV channels at once |
We now have Smart TVs that allow us to watch multiple channels at once. Internet and television are integrated so that new content and functionalities are now possible.
Thumbprint scanning to pay cab fare |
Biometric technology allow us to buy goods and services without the need of money. Every transaction is made through thumbprint scan and the cost will be deducted on the debit card or charged on the credit card.
Chicago Cubs sweeps the Miami Marlins in 2015 World Series |
If Back to the Future predicts this, it will surely happen. Right? Maybe you need a Sports Almanac from the future so you can surely bet on this.
It's kind of weird to see how the 1980's view what 2015 is. Still has the eighties vibe of an envisioned future!
